What is a Vintage Rug?
Vintage rugs are nice and old, and the definition of a vintage rug is one that is 25-50 years old. The style and patterns can vary, just like Persian, Oriental and other rugs, but it’s the rug’s age that is the key factor.
On the market are all kinds of vintage rugs in various price ranges. So when buying one, you’ll need to do some homework and verification if you’re interested in a true vintage rug. Since they are old by definition, vintage rugs will have a degree of wear and hopefully little tear. The better the quality, the more even the wear. Check the edges for unraveling, and ideally buy from reputable rug shop that knows their rugs and can give you some background on the rugs in which they deal and present.
