Round area rugs are an artful method to design a room’s decor. While it is often easier to select a standard rectangular area rug to fill a rectangular room, a round area rug can offer a unique change. If you can center the round rug, it becomes the focal point of the room, and can add a designer’s touch to any room.
If possible, size your round area rug to allow floor space around it. In other words, a round area rug that is too big can often overtake a room. Let the rug’s diameter be a bit smaller than the dimensions of the room. This will highlight the contrast of the floor and the border of the round rug, and bring eyes to the rug itself.
Another option for a round rug is to lay it over an existing carpet, instead of a hardwood or tile floor. While this could seem a bit superfluous, it can serve a couple functions: it’s a good way to cover up an older rug, and it can be as easy way to refresh a room’s look.
